Internet of Things Architectural model Explained
The phenomenon beyond Internet of Things is “make things talk”. Gartner have estimation that the number of internet-connected devices will be around 50 billion by 2020. Users, cloud computing device and services will inter-connect using the Internet to enable new use-cases and business models across markets and applications. Absolutely, the inter-connected “Things” need Architectural IoT suite which can define a framework for the inter-connected devices network and their functions ,configuration , operational principles and procedures, as well as data formats used in network operation .Thus we need to establish a IoT architectural suite which categorize , calibrate, control and have collection of the Internet-connected devices. Not only limited to this , we need categorization suite for several types of other communications models as well such as devices connectivity to Application Server, devices to Human or devices to devices communication .
We believe, Architectures should be open based and standardized, it should not pressurize users towards static solutions, and it should be flexible to facilitate solutions where users can select combination of various applications, services and devices. In this regard, different architectural model is under development, such as ITU-T, NIST, M2M model or the currently most important to mention is the Architectural Reference Model from the EU IoT-A project.
We need suite for IoT in order to manage the complexity originated from the propagation of networks in ubiquitous computing such as WAN, PAN, BAN, Ad Hoc Objects Networks, etc., based on interconnection and security levels.
In order to take full advantage of controlling the IoT architectural reference model, following are some practical implementations of IoT foundation.
Making Transportation and Logistics intelligent
Through WSNs ,IoT is carrying intense changes to the global supply chain via intelligent cargo movement by continuous process synchronization of supply-chain information in real-time tracking and tracing of objects. It can provide the supply chain a clear, visible and controllable nature, allowing sophisticated and comprehensive communication between people and cargo to connect from anywhere anytime.
Making home smart
Having a better comfort levels, which is cost effective and secure, makingIoT suite to build smart home using IoT standards such as ZigBee or Simpliciti is the one of the best IoT implementation example.
Making City Smart
Achieving this, WSNs can work a lot to form a ubiquitous computing society. Awareness of Smart cities is the basic goal to use this technology efficiently as we are using of natural resources as water, electricity, waste management etc. as major services to the citizens.
With the implementation of PAN and BAN,IoT assisting in eHealth is very multipurpose. Applications offers the possibility of medical service not only limited to patients but also to specialists, clinics and hospitals, whoever need information to proceed in their medical evaluation. IoT is serving humanity in eHealth domain by making human interaction much more efficient as it keep tracking and monitoring of patients.
